We care about your health and the health of our community. With flu season on the horizon, we’re making it as easy as possible for you to get a flu shot this year. Flu shots are available to Blue KC members enrolled in Blue KC plans with exclusive access to Spira Care Centers.

Who needs a flu shot?

Spira Care recommends that everyone age 6 months or older get vaccinated. This is especially true if you are at high risk for flu complications such as:

  • Young children
  • Pregnant women
  • Adults 65 years and older
  • People with chronic illnesses - especially asthma, heart disease & stroke, diabetes, HIV/AIDS, and cancer

Is it safe to get a flu shot and a COVID-19 vaccine around the same time?

Per the AAP, influenza vaccine can be administered simultaneously with or any time before or after administration of the currently available COVID-19 vaccines.

When to get vaccinated?

Get your flu shot early in the flu season. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention recommends getting vaccintated between early September and late October.
