how it works

Receiving Other Medical Services

Spira Care provides outstanding primary care services that are 100% covered at one of the Care Centers. But what happens when you need care outside of a Care Center? What about seeing a specialist? Or being hospitalized? For care outside of the Care Centers, your plan works much like a traditional health plan with an annual deductible. (Please note: Each individual family member must only satisfy their individual/family deductible.)

Exclusive Provider Organization

Spira Care is paired with an “Exclusive Provider Organization” or “EPO”. This means, to receive benefits, members must receive all care from BlueSelect Plus preferred providers (or “in-network” providers).

BlueSelect Plus

Members have access to more than 3,000 physicians and specialists at over 11,000 access points in the BlueSelect Plus network through Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City. Non-emergency services received out-of-network will not be covered.
